Legal Kiosk Will be Manned

North Lake County Public Library in Polson is announcing a new service in conjunction with its legal kiosk, a computer station which has been placed at the library by the Montana Legal Services Association and is dedicated to legal self-help and research.

Beginning in April 2015, the kiosk will be manned one day a month by AmeriCorps volunteer, Zach Tkachyk. He will travel to Polson to meet personally with anyone needing help finding information and resources. Zach is not an attorney and cannot give legal advice, but is trained to assist by providing information on how to complete self-help forms and to connect individuals with helpful online or published resources related to issues such as:

  • Family law

  • Crisis intervention

  • Senior services

  • Landlord/tenant issues

  • Bankruptcy

  • Disability services

  • Basic needs

  • Debt collection

He will be at North Lake County Public Library the third Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the study room housing the legal kiosk.

The role of the kiosk is to provide assistance and information to those who cannot afford an attorney or who desire to handle their own legal affairs. Forms and templates, mainly related to civil matters, will be available.

The library is located at #2 First Ave. E., in Polson.
